TO8 Day 10 2:2

    Observations

Day 10 2:2 James Hewitt is probably closer to the idea of a 'rock' than anyone else in Diana's life. In this instance, however, the metaphor of 'rock' would best relate to unbudgability and self-regard than to disinterested support of anyone's better interests. Hewitt tends to be a relationship 'calculator', in that everything he does or everything done to him is fitted into a living scheme of obligation and expectation. He will be more relaxed when indulging in his pleasures, but even then, he is unlikely to forget himself to be unaware of the consequences of his actions. He may think that he can only forget himself in games, but in practice he has an ambivalent attitude to them, and may never expend sufficient energy to turn the game into a full release of mental tensions. He may turn rapidly against friends who want to free themselves from his obligations, but will always extend a helping hand to those who want to return to his fold while exacting a severe price for doing so.

In James' Essential Year it is now phase 8:3, changing in July. Self-righteousness is the key here and a sense of digging in against the world. He will be presenting a rather innocent and aggrieved face to the world while trying to find an un-occupied seat in the first class carriage.

Day Ten is a double sign, and can bring into play positive features of the physical and intellectual explorations of 1. Day Tens are passionate to a fault about how their working environment should be organised. They head directly for what they see as flaws in adminstration and government, and tease them out. They are energetic but needy of anchors in the real world. They like to see a definite policy on every issue, and work tirelessly among their group to get their ideas accepted. They are adept at bringing in the latest discoveries to support their position, but they prefer to convince others in their group one by one rather than to confont the whole group at one time. Rather than be give in to an opposing argument, they like to draw a line under a discussion and move on, and they are apt to close off avenues of revision in order to keep to what has been decided. They are sensual and readily indulge themselves in their pleasures, always on the lookout for something new to sample. They like to introduce new tastes into their group, and spread the latest news around. They enjoy the effect of small changes and unnoticed consequences building up to a head, and they like to be subtle in the management of their relationships; knowing precisely which lever to pull to get the effect they want. They need to be free to explore all aspects of a relationship, and yet they can tie themselves up in knots of obligation. They can readily see where others are blocked, and are not above exploiting people's hang-ups to gain an advantage. They are drawn towards powerful people, and relish the mix of good and bad of those in positions of power. They are likely to be good organisers, and will have little problem with forms and official documents. They believe that good administration is the key to life, and to the management and preservation of nature. But they may believe that networking behind the scenes works better than overt political action, but they are wary of getting so far behind the scenes that they cannot put their plans into action. They like family life and may opt for children early. They are pleased by objects and enjoy material possessions as symbols of their achievements.

They resolve towards 4:4. In the second half of their life, those of this sign will tend towards the secret spiritual quest and the rituals of mystery and the imagination. They would like to find answers to their worries about life and the state of their own soul, but they find it hard to choose between various beliefs. They are happy to admininster charity and benevolence in an organised way rather than spontaneously, but are wary of being taken advantage of when they give simply and directly. They will have a sensation of uncertainty and doubt about the purpose of life, which they may look to appease through intensifying their sexual relationships.
