4. Problem letter
I have a pretty good job and some friends but sometimes I think my life is sometimes boring. I want a life with lots of money, friends, and success. I work a lot and study at night and rarely go out. It seems that to get to my ideal life takes much time and effort. What impressions/ideas could you give me. Thanks T.
Dear T.,
You were born 1 April 1966 (I am assuming the American system of
dates. Please let me know it's supposed to be the 4th January)
into TO8 Day 5 giving you a Major 1 and a Minor 5.
To make sense of
much of what I am going to say you'll need your TO8 snapshot
personality profile. If you go toour web site at <http://www.theoryofeight.com> and follow the links on the main
page to getting your free profile, and bearing in mind which
Major and Minor you are(see above), you'll then be able to
request a profile for yourself - or anyone else you are
interested in - to be sent to your email address. It doesn't cost
anything and it's important that you read it together with this
message.
Now, to your question. As you will see from your profile, you are
a thoroughly Landscape person. You are in period 6:7 in your
Essential year (but this will end shortly after your next
birthday). You are uncertain about the way things are working out
for you and yet made anxious by the way you want to put a
personal and individual slant on everything you do. You have a
sense of searching for a leader or a cause (or a field of study)
to which you can apply your talents, but nothing appeals.
Studying seems a little bit of cheat since you know that the
answers are all out there, and you feel as if the system of
learning is lifeless and designed simply to hold you back. What
you want to do is make the answers you've discovered and
agreements you have made feed back into new beginnings, new
projects. You are comfortable with your friends and your job, but
where are the new departures that such familiarity should lead
to?
There are some simple things you could do. Firstly, host a party
or a dinner for topmost people you know but who are not in the
centre of your circle of friends - preferably in a venue that's
not home, but that is not essential. If you know any journalists
or media people of any sort, invite them along. Make the
function self-help - you need to be free to move around the
guests, and plan a second phase elsewhere so that movement and
change is part of the event.
Secondly, write to every media organisation in your district
describing your talents and asking if there are any jobs for you.
Write to every advertising agency in your district offering to
write copy for them on a freelance basis. Write to every
politician in your district describing your talents and offering
yourself as a volunteer. Write to the CEO of every major
company in your area asking them what community service they do
and are planning for your area.
Do these things and I think you'll see some developments in your
life.
