5. A free and easy diet

If you read a lot about diets, this one will surprise you. It's not about food or exercise, it's about water.

I had an uncle who was a doctor.  He said once that he had a diet absolutely bet-the-farm guaranteed to work, and if anyone asked him for it he would happily give it away for free. The diet, he said, is four words: eat less, exercise more.  But no one believes it, he said, which is why I am a doctor.
 
He said something else which is as easy to understand but the results of which are less easy to accept.  He said that water can make you lose weight.  He said that most of us are heavier than we should be, but not too far from our happy ideal weight.  We are bloated because our waste removal systems are clogged and inefficient.  This is what you should do, he said, drink lots of water.  
 
Everyone knows we should drink water, but not everyone realises how much and for how long.  Here is the Water Diet.  Follow it and it is guaranteed to work. It's not going to turn you into a stick insect.  You don't have to change any of your eating patterns.  If you follow the diet (and it's not much to do), you will sense your body in a new way.  What you do with that good feeling is up to you.
 
1. You start by sipping through the day a minimum of 3 litres of pure water (bottle not tap).  

2. Second day, you don't want to drink anything, but if you force yourself, you start to feel lighter and considerably better and more relaxed.

3. Third day, you will notice a drop in appetite, and from then on it goes on getting better.

4. After five days, you can drop down to 2 litres a day.  

5. After the second week keep at a level of 1 1/3 liters a day.
 
You can have as much tea and coffee as you usually drink as well, but you can't count them as part of your 3 litres. You will need to add a little salt and extra vegatables (for the minerals) to your cooking, but otherwise that's it.
 
So what is happening?  The water washes out the kidneys and liver and all the by-products of stress that accumulate in the muscles that make us so tired.  Many of us have light infections ever present in some tissues.  The water washes out the by-products of the infections and stops the infections spreading.  Most of all the water diet reduces appetite.
 
There's no need to make any other allowances. Eat and drink they way you always do. If you are doing a diet already, carry on with it.  After a time you'll find your eating and drinking habits are changing. Trust me.  It works.  Ask anyone who already knows about it, and send this on to anyone who hasn't yet heard the word.
